10 Million Passengers Milestone for Cambodian Airports – Congratulations!

A special ceremony was held yesterday at the Phnom Penh International airport to celebrate the 10 million passenger's arrival.

Since the beginning of this year, the three international airports of Cambodia – in the capital city of Phnom Penh, the seaside resort city of Sihanoukville and Siem Reap, the gateway to the amazing ancient temples of the Angkor Archeological Park – have welcomed 10 million passengers from around the world – an important milestone for the country's tourist sector and aviation industry.

Out of the three airports, Phnom Penh leads the race with the total of 5.2 million guests who have entered the country through the capital's airport; Siem Reap has dealt with 4.2 million travellers; tourist footfalls in Sihanoukville International Airport are on the rise, too, and up to now have reached 610,000 passengers. 700 regular flights operate from the three airports each week.

It is expected that before the end of the year another 100,000 travellers will pass through Cambodian airports with a 50% increase in Sihanoukville airport, 20% – in Phnom Penh airport and 10% – in Siem Reap airport.

Speaking at the ceremony, the CEO of Cambodia Airports said that this acheivement wouldn’t have been possible without support from the Royal Government of Cambodia, the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, the General Department of Customs and Excise and the Ministry of Tourism that has been widely promoting Cambodia as a destination.
