The wheel of the Airbus 330-300 stuck fast and the pilot was unable to free it. None of the 259 passengers and crew onboard were injured in the mishap. THAI laid on buses to transport passengers back to the airport’s terminal.
Some of the passengers took up the airline’s offer of accommodation at Khon Kaen’s Pullman Hotel and then travelling on to Bangkok today. THAI staff arranged refunds for passengers who wished to make alternative travel arrangements.
THAI engineers were due to assess the damage and arrange for the removal of the marooned aircraft at Khon Kaen today. The airport remained closed to flight arrivals and departures this morning.
The TG47 incident caused the diversion of an inbound Nok Air flight from Bangkok to Udon Thani. Passengers on that flight were then transported the 120kms to Khon Kaen by bus.
