But as far as travelling overseas is concerned, 28% of Thais admitted they travelled solo. Neither other countries of the Asia-Pacific region nor the world in the whole can beat the figure, wow.
Those who travel solo more, are the younger generation aged between 18 and 24. They constitute almost a half (45%) of all solo Thai travellers and share that they travel for bleasure – business & leisure. Those born in the 1970s and 1980s are more likely to find travel companions before setting on for a trip (71%). "Travel companions' are more often spouses or parents followed by freinds and colleagues. Interestingly, those who prefer travelling in a company, normally do it in a large group of five or more people.
And what do Thais prefer doing while travelling? They visit tours and attraction (71%), indulge in food and dining (69%) and go shopping (68%). Hmmmm... Food only on the second place with travelling Thais? There should be a mistake here! Especially if you consider that the rest of the Asia Pacific travellers put dining on the first place in their list of travel activities (73%) with shopping (69%) and attractions (64%) much behind.
