Laos prepares for opening of new tourism site

News in Asia

Oudomxay Province in Laos has declared it is ready to open a new zone for domestic and international tourists. Namkad Yorapa is the new destination and the Faset Tourism Development group says official opening ceremonies have been scheduled for 9 December 2014.

The group’s president, Somphet Maopaseuth recently held a press briefing in which he outlined Namkad Yorapa’s attractions. He said tourists would be able to enjoy the delights of Phadeng Cave as well as go trekking and elephant riding.

The president continued by saying that Namkad Yorapa was also a location for extreme sports enthusiasts and climbing and mountain-biking were among the options. He finished off with the statement that various ethnic villages would satisfy the curiosity of culture vultures.

Namkad Yorapa is a 15,0000-acre natural site close to Xay District in Oudomxay. The province is north of Luang Prabang and a fairly easy trip for tourists visiting this UNESCO World Heritage designated town.
