Winter Season Hits Thailand

Temperatures in the northern and northeastern regions of Thailand continue to drop attracting growing numbers of tourists who want to experience chilly weather on the background of mountainous scenery.

Chilly weather is perfect for visiting Mae Hong Son Province, in the North. Home to Doi Mae U Kho, the province attracts hordes of visitors with its gorgeous Thung Bua Tong field with yellow Mexican sunflowers in full bloom. Another star attraction of the area is the 160 hectar swamp in Khun Yuam District famous for red lotuses which cover the water surface between November and December.

The northeast, or Isan, remains high on winter travellers itineraries with Nong Khai leading the race. The sight of the sea of fog in Ban Muang sub-district, Sangkhom district, is the prime attraction here. Last weekend Phu Hua Isan, Phu Nong, Phu Loan and Phu Pha Tak viewpoints got over a thousand visitors each. Temperature on the hilltops dropped to about 16 degrees Celcius already.

One of the less known to tourists provinces of the lower North, Uthai Thani, is getting cooler, too. There is a picturesque sunflower field in Huai Pa Pok of Ban Rai District in Uthai Thani. Right now it's the high time to make some selfies in the midst of blooming sunflowers there.
