Thailand Launches 7 & 10 Baht Travel Insurance for Christmas Period

Heading to Thailand for Christmas and New Year? Get your 10-baht insurance – no jocking! The Office of the Insurance Commission joined hands with 16 insurance companies and now launches a very affordable special holiday season insurance program.

Two insurance plans will be offered to tourists visiting the Kingdom between December, 1st 2018 and January, 31st 2019 with 30 day coverage each. Anyone aged between 20 and 70 is eligible for coverage.

The first 7-baht plan entitles insurance policy holders or their representatives to get 50,000-100,000 baht coverage in case of death, loss of organs and total permanent disability. There is a 5,000 baht coverage of funerals from illness (only payable if death occurs 15 days after the policy gets into effect) included.

The second 10-baht plan offers the same coverage as the first plan but also includes coverage of medical expenses not exceeding 5,000 baht for an accident.

As December and January are the busiest months of the tourist calendar in Thailand, accidents with holiday-makers involved are a usual thing. Though it is highly recommended by all the travel agencies around the world to buy at least medical insurance before setting on for a travel, many tourists neglect this recommendation. Seeking to protect holiday-makers, Thailand will make a trial launch of this tourist insurance program. Both insurance plans are available at Counter Services and the Government Savings Bank on arrival in Thailand.
