Wings Air Adds New Flights from Tarakan to Their Indonesian Portfolio

Starting from November, 28th, Wings Air, a subsidiary of the Lion Air Group, will add two new routes to their Indonesian itinerary. It will become possible to fly direct between Tarakan, the largest city of the Tarakan island in northern Borneo, and Malinau and Berau, in North and East Kalimantan respectively.

As there is a considerable demand from travellers and thus high potential for these routes, there will be daily services both between Tarakan and Malinau and Tarakan and Berau.

The flight to Malinau's Robert Atty Bessing Airport will leave Tarakan's Juwata International Airport at 11.25 am and land at its destination at noon 05. The return Tarakan-bound flight will take off at 12.25 pm and land in Tarakan 40 minutes later, at 1.05 pm. Malinau is home to pristine landscapes of Kayan Mentarang National Park, cut by Sentaban, Gita and Tanjung Lima rivers with impressive the Semolon and Martin Billa waterfalls.

Kalimarau Airport in Berau will be served by an early 7.05 am flight from Tarakan with BerauTarakan flight scheduled for 10.30 am. The flight time is sheer 35 minutes. Berau is the most convenient gateway to the world famous Derawan islands, popular with divers and snorkellers for their unique underwater world featuring some of the protected and rare spicies including coconut crabs, whales, dolphins and dugongs.
