Art In The City Brings Art in Kuala Lumpur to New Hight

Well, literally. Launched in January 2018, the Art In The City project's primary goal is to encourage locals and tourists to visit the capital's art museums and galleries.

The project is a result of collaboration between the Cultural Economy Development Agency (Cendana) and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). Both well-known and emerging artists are given a chance to present their works to public in the frame of the project.

Initially, over 1000 artists submitted their artworks to the projects' jury of art academics and art experts and 30 selected pieces were then shortlisted and offered to public vote. The 17 works which gained the highest number of votes, will be displayed across the city – either on iconic Kuala Lumpur's landmarks including National Art Gallery (NAG), Bursa Malaysia, the KL Citywalk and Lot 10 or on standalone digital billboards – for six months.

The selected works represent different artstyles – from figurative art to contemporary art. Some of them are paintings, some are murals and 7 exist only in digital form. While walking the streets of Kuala Lumpur, look up to enhance your stay in Malaysia and add an artsy twist to it.
