Delhi Govt has issued directives to equip proper selfie spots along the bridge to enable tourists to take pictures in specially designated and safe locations. The bridge, inaugurated on 4 November 2018, is India's first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge and the tallest structure in the capital. Shortly after its official opening, the bridge became the newest draw for tourists and while there is already a 154-metre high viewing platform on the bridge, it looks like it is not enough for selfie enthusiasts who walk along the traffic packed bridge.
Putting the bridge in operation has eased considerably transport conjection between North and Northeast Delhi, but the next task of the Public Works Department (PWD) and Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) is to develop the bridge into the first-class tourist attraction.
Interesting details:
– The total length of the bridge is 675 m; the width is 35.2 m; the hight is 165 m
– The main span is 251 m; side spans – 36 m each
– There are four lanes in each direction
– Tourists are allowed to mount the 154 m high main pillar from where a distant view of North Delhi can be observed.
