When the flight landed at Changi Airport in Singapore, airport director Yam Kum Weng and Mongolia’s ambassador to Singapore were on hand to greet the party as they disembarked from the aeroplane. The service is scheduled to operate twice a week in each direction with flights every Wednesday and Saturday.
According to TTR Weekly, MIAT is using Boeing 737-800s with a 174-seat configuration to service the route. Mongolia’s national economy is booming and Singaporean authorities say more than 8,000 Mongolians visited in the last fiscal year. The new air service provides Mongolian travellers with access to Singapore’s varied attractions including the world-famous Sentosa Island.
Mongolians can also transfer to Changi Airport’s global flight network and reaching locations such as Europe and the US is much easier. For international travellers, MIAT’s new route gives convenient access to the land of Genghis Khan, the vast expanses of the Gobi Desert and sites such as the UNESCO designated Orkhon Valley.

Mongolia’s national airline has just launched a new route linking Ulaanbaatar and Singapore. The president of MIAT Mongolian Airlines, Gungaa Jargalsaikhan, accompanied an entourage of dignitaries on the route’s maiden flight last week.
