Northern Extention of BTS Green Line to Be Operational by 2021

The first stations of the northern extention of the BTS Sukhumvit Green Line will be operational by 2021, the operator of Bangkok’s electric rail system expects.

Construction of the extended Green Line which connects Mo Chit to Saphan Mai to Khu Khot is almost 80% ready by now. Before February 2019 all engineering works and all stations should be completed, too. The operator of the BTS Skytrain, Bangkok Mass Transit System collaborates with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand, in order to set interchange stations between the two rail systems.

During the first phase the north extention of the Green Line will connect Mo Chit to the station which will be located in front of Central Plaza Latprao.

Initially the extention was planned to open in 2008, but a combination of factors resulted in huge delays. Mo Chit–Saphan Mai part of the extention will feature 12 stations and cover 11.4 km. From Saphan Mai to Khu Khot it is further 7.5 km and four stations.
