Singapore Airlines added the world’s longest commercial flight into their route network – now the airline flies direct between Singapore and New York.

Singapore Airlines is now the only airline with three flights in the top-30 wolrd's longest non-stop flights in their portfolio. Till February 2018 the airline operated flights from Singapore to San Francisco and Los Angeles, 13,593 and 14,113 km respectively. The current Singapore–New York (Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey) flight has set a new record with the flown distance of 15,344 km. The maiden flight was perfomed by an Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft  and took place on October, 11th. It was accomplished in 17 hours 52 minutes though normally the flight will take from 18 hours 30 minutes to 18 hours 45 minutes.

Initially there will be three flights a week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday from Singapore. From October, 18th and on there will be daily flights in each direction with an additional aircraft put into service. On November, 2nd, new non-stop flight between Singapore and Los Angeles will be launched and the number of flights on Singapore–San Franscisco route increased.
