Traditional largest source markets for Sri Lanka remained the same in September: they are Asia and Pacific accounting for almost 47% of the total tourist traffic. Europe performs strong with 43% of tourist arrivals, with America, Middle East and Africa far beyong – 6%, 3% and 1% respectively.
Top 5 nations with the highest numbers of tourists in Sri Lanka this September are India, China, United Kingdom, Australia and Germany. Rather unsurprisingly, Indians were the most populous group of tourists in Sri Lanka – 22%. Also predictably, Chinese tourists arrived in numbers – 13% of the total traffic. The United Kingdom, Australia and Germany showed less imressive figures: 9%, 6% and 6% respectively.
Northern Americans travelled to Sri Lanka 31.5% more than last year, and more precisely – the arrivals from US rose 37.5% and from Canada – 24.7%. Speaking about Europe, the UK, Germany and France top the list of the countries with many Sri Lanka-bound tourists.
Tourists Arrivals Are Up in Sri Lanka This September
