Vegetarian Festival to Hit Thailand in October

The traditional annual vegetarian festival will be held in Thaialnd from October, 9th till October 17th. Dates vary in different parts of the country allowing revellers to parttake in the festivities in several provinces throughout the kingdom.

The Culture Ministry of Thailand invites public to join celebrations during the Vegetarian Festival 2018, held in October. The festival will be organized in different parts of the Kingdom. The Department of Religious Affairs and the Thai Council of Artists for the Promotion of Buddhism encourage public to exclude meat from their diet, follow religious teachings and make merit during the festive time. 

Though each province will have their our version of the festival, traditionally the best destinations to head for the celebrations include China Town in BangkokSamut Sakhon, also close to the Thai capital; Hat Yai district in Songkhla and Narathiwat provinces, both in the Deep South; and Nakhon Sawan in the lower northern part of the country. The most impressive sight offers Phuket with thousands of revellers parading with their skin pierced while celebrating the event.

During the festval there will be a lot of vegetarian food on offer, festive cermons in temples, street performances and live shows.
