There will be daily flights departing Zhangjiajie at 10.10 pm Beijing time reaching Bangkok at 12.30 am local time with the return flight taking off from Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok at 4.10 am and landing at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport at 7.30 am. Currently there are no airlines operating direct flights between the two destinations. If one needs to travel from Zhangjiajie to Bangkok and vice versa, the choices are limited to connecting flights via Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Hangzhou etc with total travel time from 6 hours and more.
Zhangjiajie is home to the famed Wulingyuan Scenic Area, featured in a cult Avatar movie. Since the release of the film in 2009 the area has become a major tourist attraction, though by that time the spectacular mountains of Zhangjiajie had already been the UNESCO World Heritage Site for 17 years.
Zhangjiajie makes for a convenient starting point for your Chinese journey if your next destinations are Changsha and Wuhan, southeast and northeast respectively, or Chongqinq or Chengdu, both to the west.
