Hue, Hoi An and Dalata Are Vietnam's Cleanest Tourist Cities

Meet three cities in Vietnam which received ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award: for the next two years Hue, Hoi An and Dalat are the honorary holders of the title.

The award was laucnhed last year with the purpose of recognition of the efforts of tourist destinations and cities in following the rails of sustainability and environmental consciosness. To be nominated for the award, cities should comply with certain criteria like providing efficient waste disposal, performing general environmental management activities, keeping the high levels of hygiene and overall cleanness. The holders of the title keep it for two years and after that period can enter the competition again.

Hoi An, one of the best preserved ancient cities in the country sits on the central coast of Vietnam. A melting pot of nations, it features examples of Vietnamese, Japanese and French architecture. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site listed city.

Hue, also in the central Vietnam and on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is famous for the rich imperial heritage of Nguyen Dynasty which includes not only architectural monuments but the local cuisine, too. It is arguably the best destination in Vietnam for vegetarians.

Dalat, located in the hills of the southern part of the country and thus enjoying the pleasantly chilly weather throughout the year, is a popular escape for those looking for some fresh air amid 'thousand pine trees', as the name of the city translates.
