It is expected that the total January–December 2018 number will reach 1.7 mln Chinese arrivals with the figure rising to 2.5 mln in the course of the following two years by 2020.
Currently Chinese tourists account for about one third of all the foreing visitors entering the country. Rather unsurprisingly, the Chinese top the list of the 10 nationalities which have supplied more tourists to Cambodia in 2018.
At the same the total investment value of China in Cambodia is also on the rise – this year it has already surpassed the USD2.8 billion mark. Just 2 years ago, in 2016, this figure was far more modest – USD900 million, and last year Cambodia saw a jump in Chinese money reaching USD1.6 billion.
16 Chinese airlines offer direct flights between China and Cambodia and there are more direct air links between the two countries scheduled for launch in 2018.
