The Batticaloa airport has already been renovated and is ready to serve flights. Two domestic airlines have already expressed their interest in flying between Batticaloa and Colombo.
The Eastern province of Sri Lanka runs all way down from Trincomalee in the north to Pottuvil in the south along the eastern coast of Ceylon. Another great piece of news for European travellers to Sri Lanka – Aeroflot, the major Russian airline is resuming its direct flights to Colombo from Moscow from October, 28. The flights will be operated during high season period only till March, 30. There will be 5 weekly flights offering convenient connections with many Aeroflot and other Sky Team alliance members from and to Europe.
