The total number of tourist footfall between January and August 2018 is reported to be 1,582,835. Most tourists predictably come from the neighbouring India with China being a close runner-up. The third largest source market for Sri Lanka is the United Kingdom. Almost all the visitors enter the country by air through the main international sky haven of Sri Lanka, Bandaranaike International Airport in Negombo.

In the first eight months of 2018 tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka are up 12.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, the official government new portal of Sri Lanka repoerted yesterday.
