The Patiala State Monorail Trainways (PSMT) used to belong to Bhupinder Singh, the Maharaja of Patiala, Punjab, a northwestern Indian state. Now it is on display for the public at the National Rail Museum in Delhi. The musuem received the monorail at their disposal 30 years ago but the restoration efforts have been taken only recently. It required three months to restore the locomotive which was out of order for a long period of time.
The lomocotive itself is 108 years old and is one of the four similar locomotives which were imported to India from the United Kingdom in 1908. It can accommodate up to 10 passengers only bringing them on a ride for INR500 every Thursday but the museum representatives say that if there is good demand the frequency of monorail operation will be adjusted accordingly.
