During the first 8 month of 2018 10.4 million of foreign guests visited Vietnam what is 22.8% more than in January–August 2017. The most impressive growth were shown by the overland arrivals – over 60% while the number of airport arrivals increased by 17% and the arrivals by sea remained almost the same at 1.6% growth rate.
The lion's share of the foreign visitors (77%) predictably come from Asia. While the Chinese top the list of the most important source countries, it is the Koreans who demonstrated over 50% rise in arrivals this year. The Chinese, Malaysians and Thai visitors also choose to travel to Vietnam more often in 2018.
Speaking about other nationalities, the Vietnamese visa exemption for the Western European countries encouraged 10% more Europeans to spend their holidays in Vietnam. Arrivals from Italy are up 15%, from Sweden – 14%, from France and Spain – 10%.
These figures show that the 15-17 million visitors expectation for 2018 probably has grounds.
