The First World Food Tourism Conference to Be Held in Chengdu

The World's first Food Tourism Conference will be held on September, 5-6, in the Chinese city of Chengdu, Sichuan province. About 100 local and international guests have already confirmed their participation.

The World Food Tourism Conference aims at establishing a cooperation platform on food tourism for the whole Asia Pacific Region. Topics related to the impact of food tourism on tourist industry as a whole, development of gastro-tourism, different aspects of food culture and traditions throughout the region as well as the way for promoting culinary tourism will be discussed.

In recent years, gastro-tourism is gaining more and more popularuty worldwide. Popular online platforms and travel websites issue food-related itineraries and rankings with recommendations for foodies where to go and what to eat. Not only this trend allows to get a better insight and understanding of the local culture, it also boosts tourism and hospitality sectors in second-tier destinations which if not for food, could have remained out of the radar of visitors.
