Gran Fondo New York Is Coming to Indonesia on September, 2!

One of the most popular long-distance road cycling events, Gran Fondo, will make its third appearance in Indonesia with the Gran Fondo New York (GFNY) Indonesia 2018 to be staged on September, 2nd, 2018, deep in the heart of North Sumatra, on stunning Samosir Island on Lake Toba.

This time there will be two different courses. The longer one covers 180 km while the shorter is 108 km. Both offer spectacular vistas of the Lake Toba and Samosir Island, one of the most scenic places in whole Indonesia. Up to now, over 2,000 riders have registered for the ride.

A Gran Fondo was born in Italy in 1970 where there is even a special Italian Cycling Federation which officially defines and certifies Gran Fondo riders. Today Gran Fondo events are held in many countries around the world. This cycling marathon of at least 120 km long attracts thousands of followers.

It is the third time Indonesia hosts A Gran Fondo – the first time in 2016 on Lombok drew 600 riders from over 30 countries. It was then followed by Bali in the beginning of 2018 and now it's Samosir Island's turn to welcome riding enthusiasts.
