No less that 200 charter flights from second-tier cities and towns in China, including Zhengzhou, Wenzhou, Nanning, Tianjin, Yi Wu and Xiayang are planned. 76 charter flights will bring tourists from South Korea and there will be also some additional flights from Japan, Thailand and Taiwan, too.
In 2018 up to now Sabah has already received 152 charter flights that equals to 20,000 tourist arrivals. With new charter flights expected, it actually means almost a 100% growth compared to the last year when Kota Kinabalu received in total 215 charter flights from China, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand.
Currently, 196 weekly scheduled flights from 21 destination around the globe land and take off from Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA).
Kota Kinabalu is the capital city of Sabah and the main gateway to the attractions of the state which include, among others, the mighty Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia, with its lush forests, and the island of Sipadan, arguarbly one of the best diving spots in the whole world.

The Malaysian state of Sabah, which occupies the northern part of the island of Borneo, is experiencing a tourist boom. During the oncoming high season which will last till the next March Kota Kinabalu will welcome over 300 charter flights with package tourists.
