While it is generally ok to visit Vietnam any time of the year, the weather in September is perfect for exploring destinations in the far north and in the deep south.
Sapa, a trending northern mountainous destination which becomes gradually popular, is at its brightest in September with rice terraces ready for harvest, turning golden-yellow. In Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, it gets pleasantly fresh and cool in autumn making it an ideal period for exploring the city without an oppressive summer heat. The world-famous Ha Long Bay, a quick hop from Hanoi, offers cruises on balmy days.
While Da Lat is neither in the far north nor deep south, autumn is also a good period to visit this city of eternal spring hidden in the central highlands.
Earlier several cities in Vietnam including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh were mentioned in TripAdvisor's Travellers Choice of the Top-25 best destinations to visit in Asia in 2018, and Lonely Planet listed Saigon in their top-10 places to visit in Asia, while Travelsupermakert reported that Vietnam is among 15 fastest growing destinations in Asia for the next decade. A popular travel website Skyscanner also has informed that Saigon is featured heavily on winter itineraries this season.
