Railway Stations in India Go Digital

Railway stations in India go digital with new digital museums to be launched at 22 most prominent railway stations throughout the country tomorrow, on Independence Day in India, August, 15th.

The pilot project is held under the aegis of the Railway Ministry. New museums will make the visitors acquainted with rich legacy of Indian Railways through short two-munite films shown on LED screens at the entrance of the stations and in the waiting areas. Isn't it a good idea to have a look at the Indian heritage railway stations and locovotives and learn the history of railway in India while waiting for your train to the next destination?

Find these mini-museums at the stations of Jaipur, Agra Cantonment, Katihar and Erode – to name a few.

For the real railway buffs, though, there is a definite must-see in India. The historic Victoria Terminus, currently known as the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai, Maharashtra, is now a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site. Founded in 1878 and built in an Indo-Saracenic style to the design of Frederick William Stevens to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, now the station serves as the headquarters of the Central Railway of Indian Railways.
