First Intangible Heritage Festival Comes to Vietnam

Vietnamese intangible cultural heritage recognized throughout the world will be in focus during the first namesake festival which will take place in Tuyen Quang province from September, 21st.

Tuyen Quang province is located in the northeastern part of the country but it is expected that provinces from far and wide corners of Vietnam will participate in the event which will be combined with the traditional Tuyen Quang City Festival. The festival will be dedicated to all things untouchable but connected to the historical and cultural heritage of the country and its inhabitants, including different forms of performing arts – music, dance, songs, rituals, traditional craftsmanship, cuisine.

Thus, during the festival it will be possible to listen to the royal court music of Hue, known as nha nhac; endulge into gong culture of Tay Nguyen, or the Central Highlands; admire love duet singing, or quan ho, traditional to Bac Ninh; as well as appreciate Ca Tru, Xoan or Don Ca Tai Tu which are all different styles of singing or music.

The festival is a unique event which gives visitors a rare opportunity to have a glimpse of many forms of the rich Vietnamese intangible heritage, better understand local culture through a variety of its art manifestations.
