The MRT Purple Line connecting Bangkok and Nonthaburi province, northeast of the capital, will be tested as soon as in December this year, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand said. The test was planned just in the next year, but the construction was completed earlier.
Nonthaburi is now a major residential area for Bangkok workers. The new Purple Line with 16 stations will probably have a huge popularity and high load. At the same time the construction of Red Line which also heads north along a 35 km still continues.
