Currently the service is in its initial tiral phase with Etihad Airways WhatsApp number only shown in Premium Check-In area. If the initiative proves to be a success all passengers will get an access to the service.
The service allows passengers to communicate instantly with customer service agents to solve problems and get answers on the spot. Later on, passengers will be able to choose an option to receive important notifications via the application including flight reminders, flight status, change of the border gates, etc.
According to the airline, this new business solution will provide passengers with an important possibility of immediate contact with the airline. The airline has chosen to rely on WhatsApp messenger as it is one of the most widely used messengers around the globe and many passengers are already using it in their daily lives. Thus it will only be natural to use it for getting important information about their air journey, too.
