Sulawesi Gets Ready for Charms of Bunaken Festival

The annual Charms of Bunaken Festival 2018 will hit the island of Bunaken, off the coast of Northern Sulawesi, Indonesia, between July 19th and 22nd this year.

Bunaken is a small island famous for its diving and snorkelling areas. The festival aims at making the visitors acquainted with the beauty of the underwater world in the Bunaken National Marine Park as well as tradiotions and lifestyle of the coastal city of Manado located on the Northern Sulawesi and serving as the main gateway to Bunaken which is reached by a 45-60 minutes boat ride from Manado.

The festival will feature a variety of cultural shows and activities including Maengket traditional dance, Kolintang traditional music and folk games. There will be decorated boats competition, contemporary dance and music contests and everybody's favourite, Miss and Mr. Bunaken beauty pageant. Other activities include beach volleyball games, underwater photography contest and rowing competition. A lot of food stalls will be selling local delicacies and locally produces goods. 

With about 20 exceptional diving spots to choose from, Bunaken is definitely among the world top diving destinations. In recent years, the flow of tourists visiting the island has been continuously rising, and the local authorities put a lot of effort to keep this trend moving.
