Renovation of Phuket Airport Domestic Terminal Completed

The renovation of the domestic terminal within Phuket International Airport is now officially completed – the opening ceremony was held on June, 25 with President of Airports of Thailand (AoT)  attending.

The renovated domestic terminal has three floors with total area of over 30.000 sq.m. The arrival zone together with baggage claim area is located on the first floor. The departure zone is found on the secon floor. It has 66 check-in counters and is complete with 8 x-ray machines, 7 boarding gates and sky bridges. The upper floor is a shopping and waiting area.

Now the domestic terminal can handle 7,200 pax at the same time and is equipped with 2,660 seats. The renovation of the international terminal of Phuket International airport has been finished earlier this month.

Though the current airport capacity is 20 flights per hour and the airport can manage up to 12.5 mln passenger per year, it is estimated that in the longrun it will not be enough. That is why last month the AoT revealed their plans to build the second airport for Phuket which will be located in Khok Kloi, Phang Nga province. The new airport is estimated to be ready before 2025.
