Ancient City Discovered in Jiangxi Province, China

An ancient city dating back to the days of the Ming Dynasty (14th-17th century) has been reportedly discovered in Jiangxi province, China.

The city is located in Tianbao village which already existed during the Tang Dynasty period (7th-10th century).

Archeologists have discovered eight city gates, a 3000m long city wall and a lot of bricks with engravements indicating the year of the construction of the wall – 1524. There are also bricks belonging to the Qing Dynasty (17th–20th century) proving that the city was still inhabited in the end of the 18th-beginning of the 19th century.

It is not yet clear whether and when it will be possible for tourists to have a look at the ancient city, but Jiangxi already offers quite impressive glimpses into the country's past with a number of  traditional villages in the Wuyuan area easily accessable by train via Hefei-Fuzhou line. Located in the southeastern part of China, Jiangxi sits about 580 km northeast of Guangzhou and 1000 km southwest of Shanghai.
