Phu Quy Island in Vietnam Gets Its Fast Ferry Service

Phu Quy, a small island 100 km off the shores of Phan Thiet, is getting its speedboat service hoping to become a popular tourist destination soon.

With it rocky, stunningly beautiful northern coast and sandy beaches on the southern shores Phu Quy may become the next paradise island destination in Vietnam. Currently the infrastructure there is quite undeveloped and thus the island remains mostly off the beaten track destination, especially taken into account the scarce transportation options which are limited to a 6-hour slow ferry and a 4-hour mid-speed ferry.

This may change soon with Superdong – Kien Giang Speedboat Corporation launching their speedboat service to Phu Quy on July, 21. The total travel time is expected to be two hours and 30 minutes with tickets priced VND 350,000 (USD 15)/VND 250,000 (USD 10) one way for adults/children respectively.

The Superdong – Kien Giang Speedboat Corporation is currently serving 5 other routes with its 15 vessels, including two routes to the most famous of all the Vietnamese islands, Phu Quoc – from Rach Gia and Ha Tien, both in Kien Giang province; two more routes connect Rach Gia with Nam Du and Hon Son islands; and there is one ferry between Soc Trang and Con Dao islands, in the southeast of Vietnam.
