The famous Nahm from Bangkok, Thailand which was the 28th last year, in 2018's rating managed to stay within the top-50 but only on the 49th position. The highest place among the Asian venues in the world top-50 list this year was taken by Gaggan, a Bangkok institution opened in 2010 by Indian chef Gaggan Anand. In March, for the fourth consecutive year, Gaggan was also named the best restaurant in Asia. Before that the title of the best Asian restaurant belonged to the already mentioned Nahm which this year comes the 10th.
The World's 50 Best Restaurants rating is an annual listing formed on the bases of a poll conducted by the British magazine Restaurants. The first edition of the World's 50 Best Restaurants saw the light in 2002. The majority of the winners feature molecular gastronomy and serve haute cuisine.
