Hue in Vietnam Will Put On More Lights Soon

Hue, in the the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, Vietnam, is putting a lot of effort to attract more visitors with its walking streets and tourists attractions now getting more light at night during weekends and public holidays.

One of the major tourist destinations in Vietnam, the imperial city of Hue will soon become 'the city of light' of Central Vietnam. Luxembourg’s Energy and Climate Fund has invested two mln Euro in Hue's illumination with more 200,000 Euro coming from the city's local budget. This money will allow to install 22,000 LED bulbs in public areas of Hue, in the first place – around the Imperial Citadel and Chu Van An – Pham Ngu Lao – Vo Thi Sau walking streets along the Perfume river. Several public parks and new residencial areas will get more lights, too. The city is planning to change all the old bulbs currently used for illumination for LED bulbs to save electricity.

Last year the imperial city attracted over 3 mln tourists who spent more than 14 mln USD. Hue is easily reached by air from both Hanoi in the north and Ho Chi Minh City in the south with three airlines – Vietnam Airlines, JetStar Pacific and Vietjet – operating flights to Hue's Phu Bai airport. The Reunification Express train passes through Hue on its way north and south, with most open tour public buses also including Hue into their itinerary.
