Uday Express of Indian Railways Makes Its Maiden Journey on June 10

Indian Railways launches a modern double-decker between Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru in Karnataka on June, 10.

Named Uday Express, the train is innovative for the Indian Railways in many ways. It will offer fully air-conditioned carriages with seats and will also have a food vending machine – wow, a novelty here! – inside. The train will have 14 coaches each accomodating 82 passengers in total – 40% more compared to standard Indian Railways trains.

Bright yellow-orange from outside, inside the train features LED lighting, roller-blinds, luggage racks, arm-rests, snack tables and toilets which will later be upgraded to bio-type toilets.

It will take Uday Express about 7 hours to cover the 378 km distance between Coimbatore and Bengaluru with service offered once a day. The departure times are: from Bengaluru – 2.15pm; from Coimbatore – 5.40am.

Three other routes which will soon be added to Uday Express' network are the 350 km Visakhapatam–Vijayawada route, both destinations located in Adhara Pradesh; the 813 km route between Bandra in Mumbai and Jamnagar in Gujarat; and one more KarnatakaTamil Nadu route, the 360 km stretch between Bengaluru and Chennai.
