Tourist Arrivals in Thailand Are 14% Up

Tourism Authority of Thailand reported on Tuesday that international tourist arrivals to the Kingdom have risen almost 14% in the first four months of 2018 compared to the same period of the previous year.

The total number of tourists who entered the country during January–April this year is 13.7 mln. China showed an impressive 30% growth while India is a solid runner-up with 17% up. Arrivals of the European visitors grew 10%, and the Americans travelled to Thailand 3.5% oftener.
East Asia remains the region which traditionally supplies the largest number of visitors to Thailand with travellers from China, Malaysia, Korea and Japan accounting to almost 65% of all the international tourist arrivals. Russian tourists seem to be back to Thailand after a considerable slow down in arrivals of the past several years with nearly 14% growth this time.
Only Middle East countries showed a decline in arrivals during this period but it is a seasonal thing and it is expected that summer months will see more visitors from UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

The ten most important source markets for Thai hospitality industry in the beginning of 2018 were China, Malaysia, Laos, Russia, India, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, the United States and the United Kingdom.
