A Cruise-Themed TV Show to Promote Coron Island

The Department of Tourism of the Philippines in collaboration with the Asia Cruise Cooperation announced that the famous island of Coron would soon be features in the first ever regional cruise-themed TV production.

Besides Coron island in the Palawan province of the Philippines there will be 3 other cruise destinations featured: the Chinese Sanya in Hainan, Hong Kong and Kaohsiung in Taiwan. In each destination a local celebrity will play the role of a host showing their friend around their hometowns. Four episodes, half an hour each, will also make the views acquainted with culture, traditions, lifestyle and attractions of the respective destinations.

The popular tourist sights of the Coron Island which will appear on the screen, include Coron's second-highest 210m mountain peak of Tapyas, which is also a stunning place to view the sunset, and the unique saltwater Maquinit Hot Springs.

The objective of the project is to promote cruise tourism in the region and educate potential travellers on topic related to cruise vacationing. Last year over 114,000 cruise passengers called to the Philippines and it is expected that the number will rise in 2018.
