Michelin Guide Thailand Will Cover Phuket and Phang Nga Restaurants

Michelin Guide Thailand have announced they are going to include Phuket and Phang Nga in the 2019 addition of the famous foodie's guide.

The launch of the Michelin Guide Bangkok last year proved to be a success and now two Southern provinces will make their way to the pages of the guide. Michelin Guide Bangkok, Phuket and Phang Nga will be the 10th edition in Asia where the guide covers 29 countries in total.

Food scene in the Thai southern provinces is heavily varied as the influences of the Chinese, malay, Indian, Thai and Peranakan cuisines are all mixed, seasoned and served in a very unique style here. Some of the specialties a foodie should not miss out while visiting the region include yellow crab curry served with fermented rice noodles; sataw pad kapi kung with its famous pungent aroma and unbeatable taste; bai liang pad kapi – a stir-fry with melinjo leaves; moo hing – an unbelievably tender braised pork belly; a fiercely spicy, meaty and flavoursome kua kling; and lo ba, representing the Peranakan diet.

For travellers visiting Thailand but limited of time to go down to Phuket and Phang Nga, Michelin Guide Thailand recommends paying a visit to one of Bangkok restaurants specializing in the southern cuisine which have been featured in the current edition: Prai Raya, The Local, and Khua Kling Pak Sod (Prasanmit). Bon Appétit!
