The Filipino community in Melbourne and Australian travellers, who would like to visit the Philippines, are excited by the opportunity of getting to their destination without stops at low fare during the year. A quarter of a million Filipinos living in Australia and students studying there will be able to see the relatives more often. The direct flight will also encourage Australians to explore the Philippines.
The new route will facilitate trade between the two countries thanks to more cargo capacity. Import, export and retail trade will be strengthened.
It is the second destination in Australia after Manila-Sydney service started in 2014. The number of tourists from the Philippines has been growing since then reaching 120,000 compared with 70,000 before 2014.
Cebu Pacific is the only low cost airline performing direct flights between the Philippines and Australia. The air carrier makes 106 route embracing 37 domestic and 26 international flights.The air fleet of the company will be replenished be new aircraft in the coming years.
