Twelfth Anniversary of Hatyai Marathon to Be Celebrated in Hat Yai on May 27

This year the Hat Yai Marathon which has taken place since 2007 in the largest city of Songkhla province in Southern Thailand is marking its 12th anniversary. 

This time there will be races in five categories: the classic 42.195km marathon in which 700 participants will take place, a 21.1km half-marathon with 1,000 runners (last year 1,500 runners took part), a 10.5km mini marathon with 1,800 participants, a 4km fun run for 3,500 runners (last year 2,500) and 4km student fun run with 1,000 runners (last year 1,500). The marathon will start at Jiranakorn Stadium. The participants will be awarded with medals, trophies, souvenir shorts, buff headwear, certificates that will depend on the marathon and the finish time.

Those who wish to participate could register on the Internet site of the marathon, but now the registration is closed. 

Hat Yai is situated in the Thai southern province of Songkhla on the way to Malaysia and Singapore. It is the trade, transportation, communication and tourism centre of Songkhla province of Thailand and of the ASEAN region in general. The city is well-known for its shopping places, markets, for its nightlife, seafood. The international airport services domestic and regional flights.
