The programme is expected to increase European tourists’ visits to Malaysia and to promote cruise holidays. Passengers will arrive in Langkawi by three flights every two weeks from Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham, the UK. After spending one night in Langkawi they will board a ship for a 14-day cruise with Penang, Port Klang and Melaka port calls as well as Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. About 7,200 tourists are expected to come during the first year.
Malaysian Tourism authorities welcome TUI Group plan as it will strengthen Malaysia’s economy by positioning it as an international transport hub. News in AsiaThe Fly & Cruise Programme developed by Tourism Malaysia and TUI Group starts on December 20 this year and continues until March 2019. It will offer direct flights to Langkawi followed by a cruise and is intended for European tourists.
