It is by now a unique museum inCambodia. It will also take part in rare flora and fauna preservation. Much attention will be given to the development of cultural relations andtourist ties with other Southeast countries – Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. The museum exposition is devoted to local history, cultureand nature. Among the exhibits one can see Khmer sculptures, various artefacts which have been unearthed in the vicinity, showcases depicting Cambodian history. The equipment used for weaving and rice farming is also displayed.
The museum was opened in the zone of a previous war conflictwith Thailand because of the dispute over the territorial jurisdiction of the area. The building, which was a Hindu temple, stands on a mountain and is knownunder the name the ‘temple in the sky’. It is in on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Foreigners as well as locals visit the museum.
The Only Ethnological Museum Opened in Preah Vihear Province of Cambodia
