Cambodian Sihanoukville to House International Hotel Chains

Significant shortfall of rooms on the coast as Sihanoukville is becoming a beach destination is likely to change soon. With the rise of tourist flow the urgent necessity of developing hotel business is evident as demand far exceeds supply.

Marriot, InterContinental and Accor, which are already present in Cambodia, are preparing for opening first hotels. Novotel Sihanoukville Holiday resort will be the first to open in 2019.

Marriott’s Le Meridien starts construction next year and is planned to open in three years. The Gold Coast hotel and tower complex in SIhanoukville will complement already existing Courtyard by Mariott Siem Reap located nearby the Angkor Archeological Park, one of the most significant architectural monuments of the region, which lets tourists get acquainted with the magnificent remains of the Khmer Empire of the 9-15th centuries.

The most numerous influx of tourists during the most popular festivals like Chinese New Year or the Water Festival with Chinese tourists arriving in great numbers leaves almost no chances for others. New hotels much looked forward to will improve the situation. The increasing number of international hotel shows that the investors trust Cambodia’s political and economic conditions. The major investor into the real estate sector is China due to which the prices have risen greatly.
