Hoeurn Somnieng, deputy director of the cabinet at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport hopes it will take passengers less time to get to the airport by the new rail line. Besides, the traffic will not be as heavy as it is now.
Initially the trains will be free, but after two and a half months a fare will be introduced. The exact fare has not been announced, but promised to be cheaper than a tuk-tuk or taxi. The travel time is estimated between 22 and 30 minutes, while a tuk-tuk or car rides from the centre are longer.
The service will start with two carriages accommodating 110-130 passengers. The benches in a carriage are located along the windows with a wide aisle between them. Later on with the appearance of three train engines imported from Mexico promised by Royal Railways the trains will run every 25 minutes.
