Passenger Traffic at Changi Airport on the Rise

The passenger traffic at Changi Airport of Singapore rose by 0.9 per cent last January while the share in passenger transportation of the airport’s main partner countries – Japan, India and Thailand – has risen by 11 per cent (Japan) and 9 per cent (both India and Thailand).  

The figures were made public by Changi Airport Group at theend of February. The total number of passengers reached about 5.3 mln whopassed through the airport in January this year. Aircraft turnover as well ascargo traffic also increased with 32,490 landings and takeoffs and 175,590 tonsrespectively. 

Some new services were introduced at the airport. Among themare daily flights to Padang and Medan, Indonesia performed by Indonesian AirAsia.Another international carrier which joined Changi Airport Group performingdaily flights between Singapore and Phnom Penh is JC International Airlines(Cambodia). Scoot, a low-cost airline, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines alsomakes three flights a week to Kuantan

Changi Airport of Singapore is one of the busiestinternational hubs in Southeast Asia operated by Changi Airport Group and theplace where several air companies are based. It connects more than 400 citiesin about 100 countries. A flight takes off and lands every 80 seconds, makingit 7,200 weekly flights.
