Con Son-Kiep Bac Spring Festival started on 3 March in Vietnam

Hundreds of people were attracted to Hai Duong province in North Vietnam on 3 March where the Con Son-Kiep Bac Spring Festival started at Con Son Pagoda. Con Son-Kiep Bac is now recognized as a special national heritage site.   

Thefestival is held annually and commemorates the anniversary of the death ofHuyen Quang, the monk, who was one of the three founders of the Truc Zen sectin 1334. Before the festival opening ceremony a water-carrying parade was heldwith the participation of hundreds of people during which incense offeringswere made by monks and nuns. 

Onthe occasion of the festival the decision of the Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc was announced on recognition of the Con Son Tu Phuc Tu Bi stele in Con SonPagoda a national treasure. The Con Son Tu Phuc Tu Bi stele dates back to theLe Trung Hung Dynasty (16th -18th century). It is a valuable source ofinformation about literature, history and fine art, which cannot beoverestimated for studying Con Son Pagoda history.  

Thefestival will continue till 10 March presenting a variety of culturalactivities and sports events. Among them are worship rituals at Ngu NhacMountain, folk games, a cake making and wrestling competitions.
