For more than 40 years the national carrier of Thailand Thai Airways International operates flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok to Hat Yai in the deep South of the country.
From 30 March this year the route will be transferred to the airline’s budget unit Thai Smile with the prospect of the raising the frequency to six flights weekly in the future. Now the Thai Airways operates five flights to Hat Yai in a week. The decline in demand for flight and the need to use smaller more efficient aircraft became a reason to transfer the route to Thai Smile.
