Bangkok Airways ups frequency for Bangkok Phu Quoc flights

Bangkok Airways has announced a stopgap increase in its flight frequencies from Bangkok to Phu Quoc. The Thai carrier says it will add one flight a week on the route to the popular Vietnamese holiday isle beginning this week and through to the 24 March.

Flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with departure times of 11:30. Flight durations are 1 hour 40 minutes. Return flights from Phu Quoc depart at 13:50. Bangkok Airways utilises a fleet of ATR 72-600 aircraft to serve this route and they are configured for 70 passengers.

Travel industry analysts in Southeast Asia say the added flight will help satisfy demand for travel over the Chinese New Year and for the remainder of the peak tourist season in the region. Those already in Vietnam will finds flights operated by the likes of VietJet Air and Vietnam Airlines provide convenience when flying from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

12GO ASIA notes that Phu Quoc Airport is centrally located on the island and within easy distance of holiday resorts and hotels. After disembarking at Phu Quoc Airport, taxis and hotel shuttles are the options for travel on the island.
