The director confirmed trains running on the line would comprise three carriages with a total capacity of 100 passengers. He added that even though the government has confirmed a new airport to serve the Cambodian capital will be built this will not stop the launch of the train service.
The trains are being shipped in from Mexico while the airport rail link project is being managed by Cambodia rail franchisee the Royal Group. As the rail link project was gaining pace last December, transport-minister Sun Chanthol said the government would be giving free rides for the initial three months after launch.
